If a hundred people were interviewed and asked to define stress, we are very likely to end up with a hundred different definitions. Reason for that is simple. Every one of us looks at stress differently, and every one of us can handle different amount of stress and respond to it in a different way. Even doctors and physicians don not seem to be in agreement on to what exactly stress is. One thing is certain that stress and health closely relate to each other.
Certain amount of stress in our life can be beneficial and can actually be as driving force behind our productivity, up to a certain point. After that point, which is different from person to person, stress becomes a distress, when things begin to rapidly deteriorate.
While stress does not always mean a distress, but generally speaking every time some one says "I am stressed"they are not far away from the tipping point when things may begin to deteriorate.
So what causes stress in our life? The answer is a simple as it is complex. Stress can come very unexpectedly as a results of events that we have no control over such as tragic and unexpected events both close to our family and thanks to our modern media as far as the other side of the globe.
Large amounts of stress however has it source in things we do every day- driving to work, dealing with coworkers, dealing with our family, our children, facing financial difficulties, unhealthy diet. In other words our entire lifestyle can contribute to how much stress there is in our lives.
